I studied Biological Sciences as an undergraduate at Durham University, focusing on biochemistry, molecular biology, and plant sciences. I then undertook a MRes in plant molecular pathology at Bristol University under the supervision of Prof. Gary Foster, researching cassava brown streak virus and the role of its HAM1 nuclease in infectivity.
In 2019 I joined the BBSRC Interdisciplinary Biosciences DTP at Oxford. After doing rotations in plant immunity and plant synthetic biology, I will be doing a DPhil project supervised by Prof Phil Poole. My research will focus on optimising rhizopine control of nif genes, secondary metabolites, and ammonia release in nitrogen fixing bacteria for synthetic symbiosis.
