Tim is a Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851 research fellow and Wolfson College junior research fellow in the laboratory of Prof Philip Poole. Tim obtained his PhD in Western Australia, working to decipher the molecular mechanisms of horizontal gene transfer that drive the rapid evolution of nitrogen-fixing soil bacteria associating with agriculturally important legume crops. Tim’s current research at the University of Oxford is focussed on engineering of plant-bacteria interactions to boost crop productivity.
