I joined the Rhizosphere Lab in 2022, where I am carrying out my PhD project under the supervision of Prof Phil Poole and my second supervisor Dr Jani R. Bolla. My work focuses on the molecular mechanism behind the carbon utilization regulation of rhizobia bacteria. More specifically, I am investigating how bacteria can selectively assimilate a preferred carbon source from a mixture of available sources, a process referred to as carbon catabolite repression. The ability to optimize their catabolism can enhance the competitiveness of rhizobia in their natural environment which has implications for their effectiveness in nitrogen fixation and potential applications in agricultural research.

Before coming to Oxford, I obtained a B.Sc. in Agricultural Sciences from the University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart (Germany) and a M.Sc. in Plant Sciences from Wageningen University and Research (the Netherlands), where I specialised in Natural Research Management.
