Barney Geddes is a Post Doctoral Research Assistant with the Poole lab. After spending his PhD studying carbon metabolism in Rhizobia he is now contributing to the synthetic symbiosis project under the supervision of Phil Poole. Current research interests include the study of rhizopine synthesis and catabolism for transfer to a synthetic nitrogen-fixing symbiosis between bacteria and cereal crops, generation of synthetic biology tools for bacteria and engineering nitrogen fixation and supporting traits in plant-colonizing aerobes.
