Bergthor Traustason

I am a current DPhil student on the BBSRC Interdisciplinary Bioscience DTP, co-supervised by Prof. Antonis Papachristodoulou at the Department of Engineering Science. My research focuses on how plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria form stable communities, attach to, and colonise roots. I use systems biology approaches to understand the influence of both microbial interactions and environmental factors on these processes.

Before coming to Oxford, I did my undergraduate degree in Engineering Physics at the University of Iceland, followed by a master’s degree in Biotechnology at the University of Cambridge funded by the Gates Cambridge Scholarship.
